Code of Conduct

PARENTS 

·   All Parents involved in the RCCA are to be ambassadors of Christ and the RCCA. (It is expected from the Parents to be actively involved in a local Christian Church, which upheld Christ as the Son of God, the Savior of the world)

·   Parents will approve and upheld the RCCA’s statement of faith.

·   Parents have to make sure their child have the necessary respect for the RCCA, Principal, Staff and fellow learners. As well as respect for the School uniform.

·   Parents are to support the Principal and Staff in the application of the RCCA’s policies and procedures, especially related to disciplining their child.

·   Converse with Staff or Principal if problems occur with their child. This includes serious breaches of discipline that could lead to suspension or expulsion.

·   Encourage their child to develop proper study habits.

·   Equip their child with discipline and attendance policies.

·   Encourage and support their child to follow healthy and disciplined eating and sleeping habits. (NOT allowing them to play games, be on social networks or watching TV until late at night)

·   Submit a signed statement that they have received read and agree to the RCCA Policy & Procedures Manual and that they are knowledgeable of the responsibility outlined in the manual.

·   Support the School and the Staff in the education of their child by portraying and encouraging a positive awareness to education.

·   Parents are to serve as appropriate role models for their children. (In character and moral values, not gossiping and evil speaking about the RCCA and the Staff or other families involved in the RCCA)

·   The Parents are to ensure that the learner always attends School and is on time, and that the learner is suitably dressed (as per the Dress Code) and properly equipped for the lessons.

·   Parents are obliged to pay monthly School fees at the latest by the 5th day of each month in advance, and this is applicable for 11 months of the year. (January to November)

·   The Parents are fully responsible for their child’s overall health, neatness, snacks, dress and homework that were taken home.

·   Parents acknowledge that the RCCA is just a co-worker with the Parents in the education and life-skills equipping of their child.

·   The further acknowledge that the RCCA does not assume full responsibility of the education and life-skills equipping of the child. The RCCA is helping as a facilitator in the education and life-skills equipping of the child.


 TEACHERS/ STAFF

·   They should be ambassadors of Christ and the RCCA (They shall be born again, active in a local Church)

·   They are appointed in their respective roles by the Principal and will be directly responsible to him in all School related functions.

·   They will approve and upheld the RCCA’s statement of faith.

·   They will serve as appropriate role models for learners. In this context Staff may not physically or verbally abuse learners.

·   Help learners work to their full potential and develop their self-worth.

·   Prepare learners for the full responsibilities of citizenship.

·   Develop classroom management skills.

·   Ensure good learner discipline by being regular in attendance at School, being punctual, being prepared to teach, begin classes promptly and by being firm but fair with learners.

·   Maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere which is conducive to learning but not allowing any individual learner or a group of learners or even Parents to disrupt classes.

·   Establish reports and effective working relationship with Parents. Contact Parents when their child is not performing academically or behaving properly.

·   Encouraging learners to be self-disciplined.

·   Be knowledgeable of the RCCA Policy & Procedures Manual and sign a statement to that effect.

·   The Staff are obliged to supervise the learners during periods, breaks and free periods, or while attending any type of School related program or function.

·   Part of the Supervisor/Monitor’s educational task is to explain the necessity and the meaning of the RCCA’s Policy & Procedures Manual and thereby contributes to the learners’ approving of and acting according to the discipline rules of the RCCA.

·   The Staff are to provide support and positive encouragement to both Parents and learners with regard to the education of children.

·   Demonstrating respect for the Founders/visionaries, Principal, colleagues, all Parents and all learners.

·   Adhere to Christian moral values and character as per the work contract.


LEARNERS

·   Learners are to be ambassadors of Christ and the RCCA. (Being teachable and willing to submit under Christ and the RCCA’s policies and procedures, actively attending Church services and being involved in Church programs)

·   Learners will approve and upheld the RCCA’s statement of faith.

·   Learners have the responsibility to attend ALL classes punctually and are expected to arrive at School and in class on time.

·   Be prepared for each class with appropriate PACE’s, Notebooks, homework and slips.

·   Be willing to work on their character and at self-improvement.

·   Be properly attired in School uniform (see the Dress Code under the School rules section in this regard).

·   Exhibit an attitude of respect towards themselves, others and for those in authority.

·   Conduct themselves in a responsible manner while at School, on School transport, and at all School functions.

·   Refrain from breaking the Schools’ rules and take responsibility for their own actions.

·   Dating is not encouraged at all by the RCCA, but in the case where the Parents approve of the dating of their child, it is expected that the learners conduct themselves in an acceptable manner on the School premises or anywhere they may be in School uniform or at School related programs or functions. No kissing, hugging and or holding of hands will be tolerated.

·   They are expected to respect religious and cultural differences when it comes to dating. Specifically, their behavior should not be a source of embarrassment either to the School, the community at large, or to Staff and other learners.

·   Learners are by Namibian Law not allowed to date any person two (2) years younger or older than themselves.

·   The RCCA is a Christian Bible based Education Institution, therefore: No pre-marital sex, homosexual or lesbian relationships will be allowed or even tolerated.

·   Misbehavior and not complying with the RCCA’s policies and procedures could result in disciplining, suspension and even expulsion from the School. (Depending on the seriousness of the misconduct.)


 LEARNER’s REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (LRC) 

·   Student leaders are those learners in a position of leadership in the RCCA.

·   Members of the RCCA LRC must be ambassadors of Christ and the RCCA and must set a good example while seeking to promote the ideals of the RCCA at all times.

·   The LRC should display courtesy and goodwill towards other learners as well as Staff.

·   They should show respect and honor to the Principal and Staff.

·   They may not use their authority or position to gain advantage over other learners. Specifically, they may not intimidate or abuse (physically or verbally) the other learners.

·   Class Captains are elected by each class’ learners.

·   Prefects are elected by the Staff and learners. A Head Boy and Head Girl are elected from the prefect group by the Staff and Principal.

·   Misbehavior and not complying with the RCCA’s policies and procedures could result in disciplining and in losing LRC membership and even expulsion from the School. (Depending on the seriousness of the misconduct.)
