Social Guidelines
BEHAVIOR IN THE CLASS-ROOM
Learners are expected to display good manners, courtesy and respect towards RCCA Staff as well as their peers. They are encouraged to learn good listening skills while developing assertiveness in a pleasant manner. The RCCA will not approve verbal abuse, language or shouting and yelling. Learners are entitled to the same courtesy from Staff and educators.
Learners are expected to show respect for each other’s belongings as well as for the classroom environment. The RCCA considers theft, vandalism and meddling with Staff or other learners’ possessions in a very serious light. Physical and verbal abuse in class for whatever reason either by learners or Staff is unacceptable at the RCCA. Learners are expected to discipline themselves while Staff is in or out of class, or between lessons. Learners may not engage in unruly behavior, which disturbs their peers, Staff or other learners. Learners and Staff are expected to be punctual for lessons. Learners are expected to complete the work or task as instructed by the teacher.
BEHAVIOR ON THE SCHOOL PREMISES
Learners and Staff are expected to treat the School environment with respect. The RCCA considers the playground to be a place where learners can relax and socialize. Learners are expected to behave in a dignified way and treat their fellow learners with dignity and respect. Bullying and fighting amongst learners are not acceptable behavior at the RCCA. Having in their possession any cigarettes, alcohol, hallucinatory/scheduled drugs, pornography materials, adult items (sexual items such as toys, condoms, etc.), is forbidden. Smoking, sexual activities, pornography, the consuming of alcohol and the taking of hallucinatory/scheduled drugs (other than those prescribed by a Medical Practitioner) are forbidden on the School premises at any time. Vandalism and littering are unacceptable forms of behavior.
Since the School grounds are shared between junior and senior learners, senior learners are expected to be especially cautious when playing games.
BEHAVIOR BEYOND SCHOOL PREMISES
The RCCA expects the learners’ behavior beyond School premises to be the same as if the learners were at School. The School will not fail to act against learners whose behavior outside the School brings the good name of the School into disrepute. Learners should be aware that they are RCCA learners and thus behave accordingly, especially when they are in the RCCA uniform.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The guidelines to the appearance of learners regarding jewelry, make-up, hair, shoes, etc. is clearly laid out in the RCCA School Rules section.
Respect and honor for the RCCA uniform is an absolute must.
